Application Writer’s Grant

The Centre for European Research at the University of Gothenburg (CERGU) hereby announces an opportunity aimed at university employees who are writing research applications. The purpose of the Application Writer’s Grant is to help cover costs for projects that have a clear connection to European issues and CERGU’s research themes. The projects should be multidisciplinary and must include PhD-researchers in order to be granted funding.  

The grant may be used towards the applicant’s own work or to employ an assistant. It may also be used for additional costs related to facilitating the process of finalizing an application. Potential employment must be at the applicant’s own department. Maximum 300 000 SEK/project.

Only researchers employed by University of Gothenburg are eligible to apply for this grant.

The application should include:

  • Information regarding the applicant’s employment and a written confirmation from the head of department that the application is supported by the applicant’s department
  • A brief outline of the proposed project (research question, structure, and general approach – maximum three A4 pages), information about co-applicants and ideas about additional possible funding or international collaborations, as well as how the project would contribute to CERGU

There is no deadline for applications. Grants will be decided and awarded monthly.

 

Travel Grants for GU PhD Students

The Centre for European Research at the University of Gothenburg (CERGU) will offer the opportunity for PhD students employed at GU to apply for travel grants, funding for field work, visits to archives, conference attendance, or to host a research collaborator for seminars or supervision. The overall theme of the dissertation must be related to European affairs, broadly interpreted.

The application should include:

  • The applicant’s ISP
  • A short description of the aim of the dissertation (maximum 1500 words)
  • A short motivation of the need for the grant, including a detailed budget and the total sum of expenses that CERGU would be expected to cover, signed by the supervisor. (maximum 1000 words)

There is no deadline for applications. Grants will be decided and awarded monthly.

 

Travel Grants for External PhDs to visit CERGU

The Centre for European Research at the University of Gothenburg (CERGU) announces the opportunity for external PhD students to apply for travel grants covering a research visit to the University of Gothenburg. PhD students from a variety of different disciplines who are writing their dissertation on a topic closely related to European research are welcome to apply for funding towards a research stay. They are responsible for finding and getting in contact with a researcher at University of Gothenburg who is willing to host their stay.

The application should include:

  • A short description of the aim of the dissertation, and its connection to CERGU’s research themes (maximum 1500 words)
  • A short motivation of the proposed visit, including a description of anticipated results, a detailed budget, and the total sum of expenses that CERGU would be expected to cover, signed by the supervisor and the host researcher from GU. (maximum 1000 words)

There is no deadline for applications. Grants will be decided and awarded monthly.
