Annika Lantz-Andersson är professor i pedagogik vid Göteborgs universitet. Hennes forskning är förankrad i socio-historiska och socio-materiella traditioner, med ett särskilt fokus på hur människor samproducerar och omformar socio-tekniska sammanhang. Hon undersöker de utbildningsmässiga konsekvenserna av digitalisering, med särskild betoning på hur undervisning, lärande och lärarprofessionen förändras i samspelet mellan mänsklig expertis och digitala teknologier. Metodologiskt utgår hon ifrån designbaserad och praktiknära utbildningsforskning i kombination med videodokumentation med interaktionella analyser samt även tematiska och intervjubaserade analyser.
Hennes forskning spänner över flera utbildningsnivåer och omfattar studier av teknikstödd undervisning samt analyser av hur rådande förståelser av deltagande, lärande och kompetens kan utmanas och omdefinieras. Hon har genomfört flera forskningsprojekt om ungas deltagande och lärande i samtida medieekologier. En betydande del av hennes forskning rör också lärarprofessionen, särskilt lärares professionella digitala kompetens och hur digitala teknologier påverkar deras arbete. Hon intresserar sig dessutom för hur digitalisering på ett mer övergripande plan förändrar högre utbildning. Annikas forskning inkluderar även utforskande av innovativa teknologier, såsom virtuella laboratorier och tillämpningar av virtuell verklighet (VR), exempelvis användningen av undervattens-VR i marin utbildning.
Hennes pågående forskning har särskilt fokus på lärares professionella digitala kompetens samt på de strukturella förändringsprocesser som digitalisering medför inom högre utbildning. Hon har också samarbetat i flera tvärvetenskapliga forskningsnätverk, däribland LearnIT (2000–2009), LinCS Centre of Excellence (2006–2019), Göteborgs universitets LETStudio (2010–2020), DigiChild (2018–2020) och UVROL-nätverket (2024–2026).
