Jag är professor i statsvetenskap vid Oslo och Göteborgs Universitet och Direktör för ARENA. Jag har tidigare arbetat vid European University Institute i Florens, Italien, och vid Utrikespolitiska Institutet i Stockholm, samt varit gästforskare vid Emory University, Atlanta, USA, Monash European Centre i Melbourne, Australien, och Sussex European Institute i Storbritannien. Jag disputerade vid Göteborgs universitet 2004.
Forskningsintresse
Jag har forskat om en hel del olika saker inom statsvetenskapen. Till de frågor som har intresserat mig mest hör lobbying och intressegrupper, frågor som rör transparens och offentlighet i politiken, internationella förhandlingar, och, på senare tid, förhållandet mellan politik och juridik. Empiriskt har jag framförallt fokuserat på den Europeiska Unionen, som jag tycker är ett fantastiskt spännande politiskt system för statsvetare att studera.
Mina senaste och nuvarande forskningsprojekt handlar om internationella domstolars (som tex EU-domstolen) beslutsfattande och möjligheter att påverka staters politik, koalitionsbyggande och betydelsen av könsroller i förhandlingar inom EUs ministerråd, betydelsen av öppenhet och transparens för politiskt beslutsfattande, och frågor om hur väl intressegrupper representerar olika medborgare i Sverige och Europa. Undervisning
Det mesta av min undervisning på senare år har rört forskarutbildning och uppsatsskrivande. Jag har privilegiet att få handleda flera begåvade doktorander i statsvetenskap. Tidigare var jag studierektor vid Centrum för Europastudier som driver utbildningsprogrammen i Europastudier vid Göteborgs universitet.
