Airi Rovio-Johansson är professor i utbildningsvetenskap vid Institutionen för Didaktik och Pedagogik Profession vid Göteborgs Universitet. Multivetenskapliga fenomen och intresse för människors beteende, lärande och agerande i olika utbildningar, yrken, situationer och under olika livsperioder har styrt hennes utbildningsval inom högre utbildning. Hon forskar om hur studenter och människor utvecklar lärande, skapar kunskap, mening och innebörd i utbildning, i möten, i kommunikation och i samtal inom privata och offentliga professionella organisationer. Hennes forskningsområden är organisering av förändringsprocesser, studenters lärande och undervisning i hållbara utbildningsprocesser, ämnesinnehållets organisering i undervisning och lärares professionella utveckling i högre utbildning samt hållbart livslångt lärande mellan generationer och mellan kulturer. Under ett antal år var hon koordinator för institutionella kvalitetsprojekt för för European University Association (EUA) och deltog då i att utveckla ett kvalitetssäkringssystem, ”Institutional Evaluation Programme: Performance in Research, Performance in Teaching Quality, and Innovation”, avsett för europeiska och internationella institutioner inom högre utbildning. Hon har publicerat artiklar i internationella och nationella tidskrifter och böcker samt bokkapitel på internationella och nationella förlag. Hon är medlem av Editorial Board för och Educational Research Review och Co-Editor för International Journal of Lesson and Learning Studies.
