About Airi Rovio-Johansson

Airi Rovio-Johansson is Professor in Educational Sciences at Gothenburg Research Institute (GRI), School of Business, Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg. Multidisciplinary phenomena and her interest in human behaviour, learning and action in different educational programmes, professions, and in different life-periods influenced her selection of education at the university. Her focus in research is on how and what students learn in higher education; how people make sense of communication, in talks and in meetings in professional public and private organizations. Her current research fields are organizing change processes; students’ sustainable learning processes in higher education; organizing of subject content in teaching and lecturers´ professional development in higher education; sustainable inter-generations and intercultural lifelong learning. In a number of years she acted as coordinator of institutional quality management projects at the European University Association (EUA), notably in developing a Quality Assurance System, “Institutional Evaluation Programme: Performance in Research, Performance in Teaching Quality, and Innovation”, for European and international Higher Education Institutions. Her publications include journal articles, books, book chapters and reports. She is a member of the Editorial board of Educational Research Review and Co-Editor of International Journal of Lesson and Learning Studies.
