Bachelor's programme in Ceramic Art

The ceramics programme weaves together theory and practice, challenging you to think and create independently and critically. Over the course of three years, the instruction encourages students to work in the field with increasing independence and complexity. We give great emphasis to your development as an artist, and discussion and instruction, both individually and in groups, form an important part of the curriculum. Throughout the programme we hold periodic exhibitions and take field trips and study tours, providing opportunities for you to meet with the public and with practising artists. This gives you a good insight into what’s happening in both contemporary art and crafts.

Courses in visual expression, theory and history, writing and presentation techniques are given together with students from the programmes in jewellery art and textile art, as are seminars on topics related to artistic creation and your role as a practising artist. Coursework in materials and techniques is generally focused on ceramics, though students may use the school’s other workshops when space is available and with the permission of the responsible technicians.

NOTE! The programme is conducted in Swedish, except for semesters when exchange students attends. Applicants who wish to attend the full programme must be proficient in Swedish or another Scandinavian language and be able to demonstrate this through either grades or a Swedish test for higher education. The full programme description and information about how to apply may be found on the Swedish site.
