Presentation
Lisbeth Aggestam is Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and research fellow at the Centre for European Research (CERGU), University of Gothenburg. She received her PhD in political science at the University of Stockholm in 2005. She held a lectureship at the University of Bath (UK) between 2008-2013. Prior to that she was a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Cambridge, the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (SIIA) and a Chevening scholar at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford.
Aggestam is a member of the editorial board of the ISA journal Foreign Policy Analysis.
Research interests
Aggestam works in the field of International Relations and Foreign Policy Analysis. Her main research interests are:
- Comparative national and European foreign policy
- Role theory and political leadership
- The European Union as a global actor and power
Current research
Aggestam's most recent work focuses on developing the concept of leadership in foreign policy theory and to empirically examine leadership changes in European foreign policy.
Teaching
Aggestam teaches in the field of International Relations, Foreign Policy Analysis and qualitative methods in European Studies. She convenes two courses at the Department of Political Science and the Centre for European Studies:
• EU2215: Europe in the World (MA 15 hec) • SK 1136: Foreign Policy Analysis (UG 7,5 hec)
Aggestam has supervised four PhD students to completion.
