Fil.Dr i mars 2008, med avhandlingen “Reading, spelling and silent speech: exploring literacy in children with severe speech and physical impairment”
Undervisning
Mina undervisningsområden är utvecklingspsykologi, kognitiv psykologi, språk och kommunikation och psykologiska aspekter på funktionshinder.
Forskning
Min avhandling behandlade kognitiva funktioner och läsning och skrivning bland barn med cerebral pares och grav talskada. Dessa barn har ofta svårigheter att uppnå läs- och skrivfärdighet, trots normal intelligens och välfungerande språklig förmåga i övrigt. Bristen på artikulatorisk förmåga påverkar förmodligen förmågan att skapa och lagra fonologiska representationer i minnet som är av så god kvalitet att läsning och skrivning är möjligt. Den möjliga vinsten med att kontinuerligt använda sig av syntetiskt tal vid läs och skrivövningar kommer vara ett framtida forskningsområde.
