Presentation Anna Persson är docent och universitetslektor vid Statsvetenskapliga institutionen, Göteborgs universitet. Hon är också verksam som forskare vid Quality of Government (QoG)-institutet, samt verkar som ledamot i QoG-institutets ledningsgrupp, i styrelsen för Gothenburg Centre of Globalization and Development (GCGD) och i Vetenskapsrådets beredningsgrupp för Statsvetenskap, Freds- och konfliktforskning och medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap (HS-E). Persson har en politices magister-examen från Lunds universitet och McGill University i Montréal, Kanada, samt en kandidatexamen i nationalekonomi med inriktning mot utvecklingsekonomi från Ekonomihögskolan vid Lunds universitet. Hon har tidigare varit verksam som gästforskare på statsvetenskapliga institutionen vid UCLA samt vid Department of Business and Politics vid Handelshögskolan i Köpenhamn.
Forskningsintressen Perssons huvudsakliga forskningsintressen ligger inom fältet för jämförande politik och jämförande politisk ekonomi i relation till utvecklingsfrågor. Särskilt fokuserar hennes forskning på relationen mellan formella och informella institutioner, individuellt och kollektivt agerande och staters utveckling och kapacitet i förhållande till centrala utvecklingsfrågor så som korruption, beskattning, välfärd och hälsa. Tillsammans med Frida Boräng och Ruth Carlitz driver Persson för närvarande projektet The Power of Ideas: New Perspectives on State Capacity and Public Goods Provision in Emerging Democracies (finansierat av Vetenskapsrådet).
Perssons forskning finns publicerad bland annat i Governance, Perspectives on Politics, Comparative Politics, samt hos Palgrave Macmillan och Oxford University Press. Utöver forskningen har hon erfarenhet av utvärderingar och konsultarbeten bland annat för OECD/DAC, EBA (Expertgruppen för biståndsanalys), UNCDF, Sida, ICLD (Internationellt Centrum för Lokal Demokrati), Riksrevisionen och Lantmäteriet.
Undervisning Persson verkar som lärare på både grund- och forskarnivå. Hon är kursansvarig för kursen Demokrati och demokratisering i ett jämförande perspektiv (SK1214), samt undervisar i forskningsdesign och kvalitativ metod på kurserna Metod och Uppsatssamordning (SK1313) och Applied Qualitative Research Methods, Problems and Design (SF2323). Hon verkar även som handledare och examinator på kandidat- och avancerad nivå, samt som handledare på forskarutbildningen.
