Rural-urban migrant youth and gendered livelihood practices in the city: perspectives from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

This project explores the livelihood strategies of rural-urban migrant youth in two neighbourhoods of Addis Ababa from a gender perspective. Focusing on the paths young rural women and men take and the choices they make in securing their everyday needs, the study examines how the city challenges as well as reinforces the social, cultural and economic practices traditionally determined by gender.
