My project seeks to contribute to the literature on growth and governance structures in Zambia and Southern Africa, and is a mix of Economic History and international political economy. Specifically, the dissertation looks at the copper mining sector and examines business development and imperial policies during the colonial and period immediately after independence in present day Zambia. To this end, British imperial policies and the management of political risks by mining business groups are analysed in a compilation thesis.
