The natural sciences study everything from the smallest of particles to the entire universe. Thanks to research in these areas, we continue to increase our knowledge about humans and everything around us, with a view to creating a better environment to live in – locally and globally.

The University of Gothenburg is a leader in European marine research and coordinates several large international research collaborations.

The departments of physics, mathematics and chemistry are involved in far-reaching cooperation with Chalmers University of Technology, and there is close collaboration with the Sahlgrenska Academy and University Hospital in the life sciences.

The Faculty’s research in the field of cultural conservation is unique in the country. In this field, researchers use a scientific approach to study topics with interdisciplinary links to the humanities, social science, art and architecture.
