How to apply for exchange courses

This page provides information about the course application for exchange students. As an exchange student at the University of Gothenburg, you apply for courses in a separate process and should NOT use universityadmissions.se.

As an exchange student within a university-wide agreement, you can choose courses from several faculties. Course applications are handled by email. You are required to fill out a course application sheet that will be sent to you by email and that you should return by email to your international coordinator no later than May 15 (autumn exchange) or November 15 (spring exchange).

As an exchange student at the Faculty of Education you should include a wish list of courses in your online application. A separate course application procedure will follow. Detailed course application instructions will be sent to all nominated students by email.

As an exchange student at the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts you should state in your online application what subject you wish to study. You do not apply in advance for specific courses. When your online application is received, the faculty will assess your merits (previous studies and portfolio). If accepted, you will be offered regular courses within one of the programmes at the faculty for one or two semesters. Acceptance also depends on the number of available spots in the programme.

The Faculty of Humanities handles course applications for exchange students by email. You should send a list of courses that you are applying for to your international coordinator no later than May 15 (autumn semester) and/or November 15 (spring semester).

As an exchange student at the Faculty of Science you are required to provide a wish list of courses as part of the mandatory documents in your online application. The Faculty of Science will review your wish list and assess your eligibility. Approval and/or changes will be communicated by email.

As an exchange student at the Faculty of Social Sciences you apply for courses through an online form (sunet survey). The course application period is around mid May – end of May (autumn semester) and mid-November – end of November (spring semester). Detailed instructions will be sent to you by email.

Exception: Nordplus students should consult their international coordinator at the department since other application procedures may apply.

As an exchange student at the IT Faculty, you are required to provide a wish list of courses as part of the mandatory documents in your online application. The IT Faculty will review your wish list and assess your eligibility. Approval and/or changes will be communicated by email.

Sahlgrenska Academy handles course applications for exchange students by email. Contact your international coordinator at Sahlgrenska Academy for more information.

As an exchange student at the School of Business, Economics and Law, you apply for courses after you have submitted your online application. The course application period is in the beginning of June (autumn semester) and beginning of December (spring semester). Detailed instructions will be sent to you by email one week before the course application period starts.
