Axel Adler Scholarship

Axel Adler Scholarship is awarded for programme studies at the University of Gothenburg where the language of instruction is English. The scholarship covers the tuition fee and is awarded students at undergraduate and graduate level. Axel Adler Scholarship is primarily awarded based on the applicant's study qualifications and is funded by Adlerbertska Scholarship Foundation and Adlerbertska Grant Foundation and the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR).

Requirements

To be eligible for Axel Adler scholarship:

  • You are required to pay full tuition fee to the University of Gothenburg.
  • You have applied to a full-time Master- or a Bachelor programme at the University of Gothenburg.
  • You have submitted your admission application by 15 January 2021 through universityadmissions.se.
  • You have paid the admission application fee and documented your eligibility for studies by 1 February 2021 through universityadmissions.se.
  • You have chosen a programme at the University of Gothenburg as your first priority in the international admission round at universityadmission.se
  • You will not receive a tuition-fee scholarship from the Swedish Institute, the Richard C. Malmsten Memorial Foundation Scholarship, or the Volvo Group Scholarship.

Application

Eligible students will receive an email with application instructions by 8 February 2021. If you are an eligible student and have not received an email, please let us know by sending a mail to scholarships@gu.se.

The invitation to apply for Axel Adler scholarship will be sent to the email address you have registered at universityadmissions.se.

CV and Letter of Motivation

When applying for Axel Adler scholarship you shall include a CV and a Letter of Motivation as written text, these are used for the selection of scholars.

Selection process

The scholarship applicants are divided into two selection groups. The largest group include scholarship applicants admitted at one of the Master of Arts and Master of Science programmes, plus applicants admitted to the Software Engineering and Management Programme at the Bachelor level. Our ambition is to award a scholarship on each programme, around 60 recipients in total.

The scholarship applicants admitted to our master programmes at Fine, Applied and Performing Arts are divided to a selection group where the ambition is to award a scholarship to about four students.  

Announcement

Applicants selected to be awarded Axel Adler Scholarship will be notified by an announcement in the scholarship application portal and by email on 12 April 2021 (new date). Selected applicants admitted to the Software Engineering and Management Programme will be notified by 19 April (new date) .

Please note! Selected applicants need to reply within 7 days after notification, otherwise their application will be disregarded

There is no specified format for the Letter of Motivation when applying for Axel Adler scholarship. These are used in the assessment, how well the scholar is suited for the forthcoming studies. Here you have the possibility to highlight merits in your CV or merits which isn’t stated in your CV.

Scholarships cover the tuition fee of the study programme you are admitted to. It is a tuition fee waiver only; no additional financial support for living expenses or travel grants is provided.

The foundations will make the payment to the University of Gothenburg for your tuition-fee. The scholar does not need to act in this matter.

Late applications will not be considered.

Please note that it is not possible to combine the Axel Adler Scholarship with any another scholarship covering the tuition fee.

If you are offered other scholarships, such as from the Swedish Institute, the Richard C. Malmsten Memorial Foundation Scholarship, Volvo Group or a scholarship from your home country, and you decide to accept that scholarship, your application for the Axel Adler Scholarship will be disregarded.

Are you a citizen of the People’s Republic of China or the Republic of India and are required to pay a tuition fee for education in Sweden? Then you have the opportunity to apply for the Volvo Group scholarships.

If you have been admitted to a master programme at the School of Business, Economics and Law and are required to pay a tuition fee for education in Sweden, you can apply to the Richard C. Malmsten Memorial Foundation Scholarship.

Applicants who are placed on the reserve list will be contacted latest by the 4th of June 2021.

To keep your scholarship, you must complete at least 75% of the semester’s credits. There are regular follow ups conducted.  If you are having problems passing courses, please contact your Department and notify us at: scholarships@gu.se.

The same deferment rules for admissions are applied for Axel Adler scholarship.

If your fee status changes during your studies, you must notify us at: scholarships@gu.se.

 

When your study break is approved by your Department, contact us and we will make sure that the scholarship is transferred to the upcoming semesters when you return from your study break.

If you are suspended from your studies, we reserve the right to withdraw your scholarship.
