How to apply for a position

Do you want to work at the University of Gothenburg? Our checklist helps you, both before, during, and after you have applied for a position.

Step 1. Application

To apply for a position at the University of Gothenburg, you must register an account in our recruitment system. It is your responsibility to ensure that your application is complete according with the advertisement and that you submit it no later than 23:59 on the final application deadline.

Register an Account

To begin your application, you need to register an account in the recruitment system. With an account, you will have an overview of your applications and can reuse information you have previously entered.

Answer Questions and Attach Documents

After logging in, you will be directed to the application form for the position you wish to apply for. Be sure to answer mandatory questions and attach required documents. You can save your application and continue later within the application period.

Register and Submit Your Application

To submit your application, you first need to consent to the registration and processing of your personal data for recruitment purposes. You can edit your application until the end of the application period; thereafter, it will be locked and cannot be edited. Once your application is submitted, you will receive a confirmation at the top of the page and an email confirmation to your email address.

Step 2. Selection

Once the application deadline has passed, we review all incoming applications. Then, we select a number of individuals for interviews based on the requirements specified in the advertisement. If you are chosen for an interview, we will contact you. 

At the University of Gothenburg, there are many different types of positions, so the recruitment process may vary depending on the type of position.

Step 3. Offer and employment

If you are offered the position, you will be contacted to discuss the terms of employment and the starting date. 

In addition to your local workplace introduction, there is also a digital orientation course for newly hired employees where you will gain general knowledge about the University and what you need to be aware of.
