Agnes Faxén will promote the opportunities of R/V Skagerak

Agnes Faxén is new communications officer for the university's research vessel R/V Skagerak. She is a biologist and previously she has worked at the School of Business, Economics and Law, and at the Swedish Vetenskapsradion. In her free time, she likes to "fika" – and look for seals.

What are you going to do here?

"I will work with internal and external communication regarding the research infrastructure R/V Skagerak. It is a matter of strategically working to reach out with information and create greater knowledge of the opportunities that R/V Skagerak offers in terms of marine research."

What have you done previoulsy?

"Most recently, I worked at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg, where I worked with communication for four years. Among other things, I was involved in starting the podcast "Staten & kapitalet". Previously, I worked as a scientific reporter at P1's Vetenskapsradion and SVT's Vetenskapens värld."

"And to go even further back, I studied marine biology for five years at the University of Gothenburg. I did my master's thesis at the Tjärnö Laboratory on Pacific oysters, Magallana gigas. I have also studied at Kristineberg, and in Mozambique for a period. I now hope to be able to use all the different parts of my previous experiences in this exciting new position."

What do you do in your free time?

"I do a lot of gardening, reading and yoga. But I'm happiest out at sea – with a cup of coffee and maybe a seal or two in sight."

Something else you would like to share?

"I've tried to get both my flying and diving licenses, but I'm a bit of a coward so I didn't get it. However, I'm really good at wallpapering. Always something, and who doesn't get happy with a fancy wall?!"
