Om Ann-Marie Ekengren
Ekengren är professor vid Statsvetenskapliga institutionen. Hon är ledamot av Samhällsvetenskapliga fakultetsstyrelsen.
Forskning
Ekengren forskar om svensk och nordisk utrikespolitik samt internationell politik. Hennes forskning handlar om att studera hur små stater agerar i relation till sin omgivning och att förklara varför de agerar de som de gör.
Pågående projekt
Ekengrens nuvarande projekt är Små liberala stater i tider av demokratisk tillbakagång. Protest eller anpassning på den globala scenen?. Projektet undersöker hur små stater agerar i en värld som i allt större utsträckning präglas av autokratisering och allt mindre av liberalism. Under perioden 1 juli 2026-30 juni 2027 har Ekengren sabbatical då hon ska genomföra ett projekt om Sverige och FN https://www.rj.se/bidrag/2025/sverige-och-fn.-sveriges-fn-policy-1946-2025
Avslutade projekt
Ekengren har bland annat deltagit i forskning om Sverige under kalla kriget (SUKK), Övervakningshistoria (SMUTS), Olof Palme i sin tid, Makt, identitet och modernitet (MIM-programmet), Medialisering av europeisk utrikespolitik - en jämförelse i tid och rum samt The Quest for Power in International Politics: Campaigns by and Selection of Non-Permanent Members to the United Nations Security Council.
Projektet New roles in a hostile world? How small liberal states are changing their foreign policy in a new security environment är just avslutat. Projektet utgick från att när den internationella politiken präglas av en tilltagande nivå av konfrontation och ett ifrågasättande av den liberala världsordningen ställs liberala småstater inför en utmaning att balansera sina normativa liberala ideal mot behovet av militär säkerhet.
Undervisning
Ekengren är kursansvarig för följande kurser:
SK1523/SK1524 Examensarbete i statsvetenskap/miljöpolitik (BA, 15 hec)
SK1411/SK1412 Praktik för Statsvetarprogrammet (BA, 15 eller 30 hec). Praktiksamordnaren sköter det praktiska rörande kursen.
