Education in Economic History
Economic History provides a long-term perspective on economic and social development. Our education concerns current topics relating to globalisation, the environment, migration and gender from the perspective of economic history, but also classical issues relating to economic growth and distribution, business, entrepreneurship and innovations.
Economic History helps us to understand ongoing changes in contemporary society by placing them in long-term perspectives. Within the subject, there are opportunities to study the global division of labour and living standards, as well as shifts in power and wealth between different continents. Teaching and research also address issues related to gender, demography, migration, and of course the challenges that environmental threats and climate change pose to society.
We offer education at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels, while our research constitutes an important part of our activities. The department’s teachers and researchers participate in international networks and projects and publish in international journals. Another important aspect of our work is collaboration with industry and society.
