The Academy of Music and Drama trains and educates composers, music, dance, and drama teachers, musical theatre artists, musicians in many genres, opera-singers, performance artists and actors. Research within artistic and pedagogical practices also takes place at the academy.

Meeting an audience is a central part of the education for students at the Academy of Music and Drama. The department organizes 150 concerts and performances per year at a wide range of venues across Gothenburg.
