General Practice (Family Medicine)
General Practice research focuses on everyday health issues that affect large parts of the population. It examines how lifestyle, stress, and physical activity influence mental health and work capacity, and how we can use treatments like antibiotics responsibly. Closely linked to primary care, the field has a strong patient-centered perspective, making its findings directly relevant to people’s daily lives.
Our research
Our researchers collaborate with primary-care units in Region Västra Götaland and Halland, as well as with national and international partners, to study common conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, infections, and mental ill-health. Projects range from large population-based studies to research on continuity of care, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for infections, the use of digital decision support and artificial intelligence in primary care, and the implementation of new clinical methods. A strong emphasis is placed on ensuring that research findings are translated into improved quality of care in everyday clinical practice.
