Cecilia Björkelund, general practitioner, professor, Department of Primary Health Care, Institute of Medicine, University of Gothenburg.

Thesis (1990): The Strömstad survey. A model for prevention of cerebrovascular and cardiovascular disease in women within the primary health care organization. The thesis evaluated a life style intervention program in a female population with high risk of cardio-vascular disease and stroke. A long time follow up was also carried out after 8 years in 1994-95.

Most ongoing research activities concerning i) Women´s health through epidemiologic studies in the Population Study of Women in Gothenburg; member of the research group since 1992 ii) Intervention studies concerning life style interventions and cardiovascular intervention and prevention in primary care iii) mental health interventions in primary care iv) Research infrastructure building in primary care v) Clinical studies in the primary care context
