Our participation in popular science events
Each year, the University of Gothenburg takes part in various events to share our research with the public. Here, you can find information about our participation in the Gothenburg Book fair, Almedalen, the International science festival, West Pride, and Frihamnsdagarna.
The International Science Festival Gothenburg
The university of Gothenburg is one of the main partners of the International Science Festival, one of Europe's leading popular science events aimed at both schools and the general public. It serves as a meeting place for knowledge, inspiration, and new perspectives.
This year's theme
The theme for next year's Science Festival is Futures. During the festival, the theme will be seen and highlighted from several different perspectives in the festival's multifaceted program.
School program, April 1–11
The Science Festival's interdisciplinary School Program runs from April 1–11 and offers hundreds of exciting, fun and educational activity opportunities. Some activities are offered on site, around Gothenburg, and others take place online. All schools in Sweden and abroad can participate!
To participate in the School Program, you, as a teacher or educator, must create a user account on the Science Festival website and go in and book one of the hundreds of program items that are available to take part in.
The majority of the program items in the school program are in swedish.
Public program, April 1–6
For the 29th year in a row, the Science Festival is being held around central Gothenburg. This year's main venues are Nordstan, the City Library and the Contrast restaurant. During the six days of the festival, visitors will be able to listen to hundreds of lectures, talks, try-out activities, quizzes, guided tours and much more!
At the festival, you will be able to meet and listen to several researchers and doctoral students from the University of Gothenburg. In total, the university is participating in over 70 program items during this year's festival.
The majority of the program items are in swedish, but the program also includes a large number of program items in english.

West Pride
West Pride is an arts and culture festival that creates safe spaces for LGBTQI individuals and highlights issues of norm criticism and the life situations of LGBTQI people. The festival is free for visitors and primarily targets LGBTQI individuals in Gothenburg and Västra Götaland, while also appealing to a broader national and international audience.
The university of Gothenburg is a proud partner of West Pride and participates every year by, among other things, raising rainbow flags on university buildings and organizing seminars and other events as part of the festival.
