Spanish - research
Our department conducts research in literary, cultural, and linguistic studies. We examine the intersection of politics and aesthetics from the 19th century to the present, with a particular focus on Latin America and cultural expressions within Sweden. As Spanish is a global language with numerous varieties, our linguistic research focuses on sociolinguistics related to migration, demographics, and education, as well as grammatical research on linguistic variation.
Literary and Cultural Studies*
In the fields of literary and cultural studies, our research explores the intersections of politics and aesthetics from the 19th century to the present day. While our primary focus is on Latin America—with specific expertise in countries such as Argentina, Chile, Cuba, El Salvador, Mexico, and Uruguay—we also examine the transmission of cultural expressions to Sweden. This includes the translation of Spanish-language literature as well as the production of knowledge concerning the vast and diverse Hispanic world.
Linguistics*
Our linguistic research deals with Spanish as a global language characterized by a wide array of varieties. We conduct sociolinguistic research centered on migration, demographics, and education, alongside grammatical research focused on linguistic variation in relation to morphosyntactic and semantic aspects.
