Visual Arts (Teacher education)

Are you interested in pictures and visual communications? In investigatory working methods that use a variety of materials? In how children’s imagination and creativity emerge and how they can be used? Then become an art teacher!

Art teachers play an important role in today’s society, especially as the demand for visual knowledge continues to grow. As aesthetic expressions, pictures have communicative and linguistic aspects that are of great significance to the education of children and young people. Today the study of visual communications relies on a combination of analogue and digital tools.

HDK-Valand’s teacher training programme in the subject of visual communications is an exciting and modern academic programme that interweaves pedagogy and artistic working methods with practical elements. The curriculum integrates studies of subject area theory, didactic methods and artistic expression, and the discussion of the teacher’s professional role is central.

The demand for art teachers will only grow, particularly in primary school but also in secondary school, if the number of students in the aesthetic academic track keeps growing.

Our teacher education is only conducted in Swedish.
