Study here

Our courses are aimed at students who engage with social and cultural issues and who wish to develop their knowledge in areas such as cultural politics, culture in everyday life, culture and democracy, gender and gender equality. We have courses for those with an interest in culture and artistic forms of expression such as film, art and music, who want to learn more about how they can be understood from a historical and social perspective.

You can enrol in independent courses, course packages or study programmes. In addition, you can customise your programme to fit your own specific interests. We also offer an opportunity for you to spend some of your study time abroad. Our courses provide you with skills that will serve you well in the world of work, whether you want a career in the education or cultural sector, community planning, cultural policy, project management or entrepreneurship. You can also choose work experience options, whether independently or as part of your programme.

Study environment

As a student in the Department of Cultural Sciences, you will meet knowledgeable and committed teaching staff and all teaching takes place in modern and technically well-equipped premises. In addition to lectures and seminars, you will have a chance to discuss the associated literature with your fellow students in small groups. Group work may also be based in various cultural institutions or public environments in and around Gothenburg. As a student in the new Faculty of Humanities, you are part of an inspiring and dynamic learning environment where you encounter students from many different humanities disciplines on a daily basis.
