SENIOR LECTURER
Department of Education and SpecialAbout Stefan Johansson
My research interest concerns validity issues in the field of educational assessment. Since I defended my thesis "On the Validity of Reading Assessments: Relationships Between Teacher Judgements, External Tests and Pupil Self-Assessments", my reserach interests has centered on the use and consequences of international large-scale assessments, such as TIMSS and PISA.
Moreover, I am involved in projects investigating the effects of teacher competence on student achievement. The research questions are often connected to contextual factors such as the social background of the students. For example, is teacher competence evenly distributed across different schools in Sweden?
I supervise at bachelor, master and doctoral level. I teach in courses on educational assessment, evaluation and quality in measurement, and in statistics courses using SPSS, for example.
