About Stefan Johansson

Stefan Johansson is an Associate Professor of Education at the Department of Education and Special Education, University of Gothenburg (since 2019). He coordinates two research schools focusing on quantitative methods in educational research. His work primarily uses international large-scale and register data to investigate how formal teacher competence affects student achievement. He also examines validity issues in educational assessments, such as the extent to which PISA test scores align with national test results and grades, considering the moderating role of student motivation.

I supervise at bachelor, master and doctoral level. I teach in courses on educational assessment, evaluation and quality in measurement, and in statistics courses using SPSS, for example.
