About Andreas Fröberg

Andreas Fröberg, Associate Professor, has a PhD in Sport Science and is currently employed as a senior lecturer at the Department of Food and Nutrition, and Sport Science, Gothenburg University. Fröberg is a certified Physical Education and Health teacher and has an MSc in Sport Science. He has previously been employed as a lecturer at the Department of Sport Science, Linnaeus University.

Fröberg’s main research interest concerns physical activity and sedentary behavior among youths, as well as health promotion. In his doctoral thesis, Fröberg described and critically reflected upon the experiences of developing and implementing an empowerment-based school intervention, focusing on food and physical activity, involving adolescents from a Swedish multicultural area characterized by low socioeconomic status. The intervention was continually developed and implemented, as a result of cooperation and shared decision making among researchers and the participating adolescents. Fröberg also investigated accelerometer-measured physical activity and sedentary behavior among the adolescents, and evaluated the effects of the intervention on these variables.

As recently established at the Department of Food and Nutrition, and Sport Science, Fröberg's current research focus on how changes of perspectives around learning goals, processes, teaching, and content can bring in possible educative aspects of sustainability to be integrated in Physical education and health.
