Maja Cederberg joined the Department of Sociology and Work Science in September 2018. She was previously Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Oxford Brookes University in the UK.
Maja’s research interests are in the areas of international migration, work and employment, gender, social class and social inequalities. In particular, her research looks at how structures and processes relating to gender and social class contribute to shaping experiences of migration, as well as the process whereby migrants become incorporated into the labour market and wider society. Her research is mainly qualitative, and she has particular expertise in biographical and narrative interviewing methods. Maja’s work has been published in journals such as Sociology, Acta Sociologica, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies and Migration Studies. She is currently working on a research project exploring the motivations, lived experiences and everyday practices of return migration among Swedish families who have lived abroad for employment-related reasons. The project is entitled "Coming ’home’ in times of uncertainty: Return experiences and constructions of home among Swedish mobile families", and it is funded by the Swedish Research Council.
