About us

The Skagerak Facility is part of the University of Gothenburg’s marine research infrastructure, supporting scientific exploration and education at sea through advanced platforms and field-based research.

The University owns R/V Skagerak and is responsible for coordinating the scientific activities on board. To ensure smooth operations and the highest standards of maritime safety, the crew and technical management are provided by Northern Offshore Services (NOS) – a company with extensive experience in operating research and offshore vessels.

Marine Infrastructure

The Marine Infrastructure at the University of Gothenburg consists of the Skagerak Facility and Tjärnö Marine Laboratory. Host department is the Department of Marine Sciences. The University of Gothenburg is also host organisation for the national infrastructure Kristineberg Center.
