Flow of goods and logistics

The changing flow of goods is an important part of the ongoing structural transformation of retailing. While digital developments have facilitated the everyday lives of many consumers, many challenges have also arisen in terms of transport efficiency and sustainability.

The so-called “last mile”, which for a long time has mainly been carried out by consumers, has with the growing e-commerce become an increasingly important issue for many companies. How logistics is organized is of great importance for consumers' choices, but also on the total costs and environmental impact. In this area, goods flows within retailing are studied in projects that particularly concern the so-called last mile and return flows related to e-commerce.
