Our research

The Department of Political Science in Gothenburg has long been one of Northern Europe’s leading research environments for the scientific study of politics. Our research is guided by theoretical curiosity and a strong commitment to scholarly rigor. Our primary goal is to produce new knowledge that is valuable both to Swedish society and in international contexts.

We contribute to the development of society

We research issues that are crucial to democracy and societal development: elections and public opinion formation, political ideas, political institutions, international politics, climate and environmental policy, corruption, and governance.
