Centre for Antibiotic Resistance Research, CARe

CARe - Centre for Antibiotic Resistance Research in Gothenburg – has a vision to limit mortality, morbidity and socioeconomic costs related to antibiotic resistance on a global scale through research. CARe offers diverse expertise representing 22 departments at Chalmers university of Technology and the University of Gothenburg as well as a broad network of stakeholders within the health care sector and beyond. The mission is to generate state-of-the-art science with the intention to support rapid revision of policies and their implementation.
CARe is a research centre formed in collaboration between the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology. In addition, research is carried out in close collaboration with Sahlgrenska University Hospital and the Västra Götaland region.
More and more pathogenic bacteria are developing resistance to life-saving antibiotics. Around the world, common infections are becoming ever more difficult to treat. In addition, antibiotic resistance causes problems during surgery and in many forms of cancer treatment, where antibiotics are needed for prophylactic purposes.
