Researcher
Department of SurgeryAbout Johan Bourghardt Fagman
Johan Bourghardt Fagman is a biomedical researcher and an associate professor at the Institute of Clinical Sciences at Sahlgrenska Academy. He conducts translational cancer research at Forskningsmottagning kirurgi and Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research, focusing mainly on pancreatic cancer.
Research
The goals of the research are to discover new mechanisms governing tumor microenvironment, tumor promotion and therapy resistance, and tissue regeneration and homeostasis. In our research, we work with models of pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer and study the effects of inflammation and cellular stress responses.
Currently, the main research directions, include:
- Role of autophagy and autophagy-related pathways in pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer
- Role of cellular stress responses (e.g., autophagy, stress-responsive signaling pathways, senescence) in therapy resistance of pancreatic cancer
-
