Björn Marcus Burmann
About Björn Marcus Burmann
Björn completed his PhD at the University of Bayreuth, Germany, in 2010 on studying the structural basis of bacterial transcription:translation coupling by NMR-spectroscopy. Subsequently, he joined Sebastian Hillers group at the Biozentrum Basel studying chaperone-substrate complexes at atomic resolution.
Since 2017 he has turned independent with funding through an appointment as an Assistant Professor in Chemistry oriented towards life science at the Wallenberg Centre of Translational and Molecular Medicine additionally sponsored by the Vetenskåpradet as well as a Wallenberg Academy Fellowship. He investigates macromolecular protein machines by high-resolution Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) underlying essential cellular functions.
