IMC Executive Committee

In Sweden we have a long tradition of striving for equality. Amongst other things this involves focusing on how people with impairment can have the best opportunities to participate in our society. For this reason the theme “Challenges for an inclusive society” has been chosen for the conference. With this theme we wish to focus on identifying what needs to be done on a worldwide basis in order to achieve an inclusive society with regard to orientation and mobility, based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The conference will build on interdisciplinary professional and academic work. Here we want to bring together researchers, practitioners and people with visual impairment and blindness in order to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and collaboration across different perspectives on orientation and mobility (O&M).

We want to extend our shared knowledge in the field of O&M in a broad sense; being challenged by new research results, together discuss new interpretations of the function of O&M for living a healthy life, and gain new insights into designing rehabilitation initiatives and programs. Bringing together researchers and professionals from a wide range of disciplines guarantees that the complexity of O&M in daily life will be illuminated in all its facets and dimensions. We want to challenge you all to further broaden the knowledge base for our profession.

See you soon in a digital format!
