About Karin Ekström

Karin Ekström did her undergraduate and graduate training at the University of Gothenburg, earning a medicine master in pharmaceutical bioscience in 2004. Karin Ekström received her PhD at the University of Gothenburg in 2008 with the thesis "Exosomal Shuttle RNA" where she made major contributions establishing the functional mechanisms of exosomes in cell-cell communication. Between 2009 and 2019 Karin Ekström worked as a post doc and researcher at the Department of Biomaterials at the University of Gothenburg studying EVs in the field of inflammation, regeneration and biomaterials. Currently, Karin Ekström is working at the Department of Surgery, focusing her research on the role of exosomes in cancer
