About Isabelle Hansson

PhD in Psychology, University of Gothenburg, 2019

Member of Lifespan Development Lab (Lifelab) and Centre for Ageing and Health (AgeCap). Guest researcher at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute 2021-2022.

Project director for HEARTS (HEalth, Aging and Retirement Transitions in Sweden).

My research focuses on psychological development and adaptation in late working life and retirement. In my dissertation "Retirement and Life Satisfaction: A Resource-Based Dynamic Perspective", I studied the role of resources for changes in life satisfaction over the retirement transition. My current research focuses on the effects of a prolonged working life, that is, for whom and under which circumstances prolonged labor force participation in later life influences health and well-being.

Ongoing projects

  • Who benefits from a prolonged working life? The role of work for psychological, cognitive, and health-related changes (Forte: Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare)
  • Working after retirement: Individual level determinants and consequences (Forte: Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare)
  • HEAT: Heat stress in outdoor environments - Planning the city of the older adults today and in a future warmer climate (Formas: Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development)
