Department of Business AdministrationAbout Rebecka Tolstoy
Academic degree: Bachelor of Nursing, Masters of Business Administration, Ph.D.
Current research areas: Since 2010, my work has primarily focused on studies of HR and workforce transitions. My latest research project, launched in 2024, examines a consultancy firm for retirees and the organizational narratives emerging within this relatively new sector. Previously, I studied mentorship programs and onboarding processes for recent graduates entering high-demand roles in the welfare sector, exploring them as a means to foster a sustainable work environment. Before that, I conducted research on the organization of retirement, extended working lives, and the processes surrounding layoffs and business closures across various industries. Early in my research career, I also worked on a study regarding the commercialization of the life sciences sector, specifically through a case study on the organization of in vitro fertilization (IVF) clinics. My doctoral thesis focused on first- and second-line managers in healthcare, examining their work and daily time allocation.
