Peter AndinéProfessor, Senior Consultant

Peter Andiné is a professor of forensic psychiatry at the University of Gothenburg, active in research within the Centre for Ethics, Law and Mental Health (CELAM), and research group leader for the Forensic Psychiatry/Gothenburg Research Group. He is a Senior Consultant at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Department of Forensic Psychiatry, and the National Board of Forensic Medicine, Department of Forensic Psychiatry. Andiné is a scientific advisor in forensic psychiatry at the National Board of Health and Welfare, chairman of the Swedish Forensic Psychiatric Association and medical expert at the National Board of Health and Welfare's government mission (S2024/01004) to strengthen and develop forensic psychiatric care. He has a background as a preclinical researcher focusing on the role of excitatory amino acids and calcium in brain ischemia and psychosis. For just over ten years, he has been conducting clinical forensic psychiatric research focusing on forensic psychiatric examinations and forensic psychiatric care. In particular, the focus is on the brain health and metabolic health of forensic psychiatric patients and their impact on cognitive abilities and the course of forensic psychiatric rehabilitation. Andiné leads the national and interdisciplinary COMPFOR Research School, focusing on compulsory psychiatric care and forensic psychiatry, and is vice-chairman of the Sahlgrenska Academic Appointments Board.
