Short description

It is well known that there is a clear connection between learning and health where students who are feeling good learn better and vice versa; better learning contributes positively to students' health and well-being at school and later in life.

About the project

The school's student health is central to health promotion and preventive work, where an explicit goal is to support the student's development towards goal achievement and well-being. An important part of such work is the learning and learning environment and this is in turn dependent on the organization of the school and the educational leadership that is exercised. In order to successfully develop optimal strategies for increased goal achievement and a greater well-being of the student, it is important to get an overall picture of the state of knowledge and the research that exists, as well as to determine which knowledge is missing. In this project, locally initiated development projects are mapped and analyzed with the aim of improving the school's work towards health-promoting school development. These projects are funded by the Swedish National Agency for Education in two rounds: 1) between 1 January 2017 - 30/6 2017, and 2) during the school year 2017/2018.

In addition, a national multidisciplinary research network is set up to map and present a research-based summary and synthesis of the knowledge and research in the field. This work will be presented in an anthology in 2019. The network will work with learning and health in a broad interdisciplinary perspective, which not only deals with knowledge outcomes, but also school achievement which is understood in terms of motivation for school work, participation and propensity to study further. The purpose is thus to build knowledge and to gather experiences from different perspectives to enable interesting synergies that could specifically help to develop proposals for changes in school work and organization based on research and experience to achieve an equivalent school with better goal achievement and increased well-being for the students.
