Earth Surface Processes

Earth Surface Processes encompasses studies of the Earth’s surface and their interactions within the bio-, hydro- and atmosphere.

Our research encompasses ecosystem science, geomorphology, hydrology, biogeochemistry, land-cover/land-use change and landscape processes at different spatial and temporal scales. Our geographic study areas are global, but special attention has been paid to high latitude and high elevation regions, as well as Sweden’s cities, forests, mires and tundra.

Current research activities in Earth Surface Processes:

●    Glacial landforms
●    Permafrost dynamics
●    Tundra vegetation change
●    Energy and matter flow on landscape level (hydro- and atmosphere)
●    Greenhouse gas fluxes
●    Peatland changes
●    Soil processes
