About us

The Department of Earth Sciences conducts education and research in Earth sciences and Geography. We are part of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Gothenburg and have approximately 400 students and 70 employees. Our department is characterized by a successful international research environment with collaborations in various parts of the world.

We offer first-, second- and third cycle education aimed at developing knowledge and innovations for the sustainable use of the Earth's resources. Our strong research areas are grouped under three themes: Climate and Climate Change, Earth Surface Processes, and the Geosphere. The department's premises are located in the Natrium building on the Medicinareberget Campus, University of Gothenburg.
