About us

The Department of Earth Sciences conducts research and education in Earth Sciences and Geography. We have Bachelor and Master’s programmes, as well as third-cycle education.

Our strong research areas are Climate and Climate Change, The Geosphere​ and Earth Surface Processes. We have about 400 students and 70 teachers, researchers and technical/administrative staff. The Department facilities are situated in The Earth Science Center (Geovetarcentrum, GVC) at Wavrinskys plats, Gothenburg.
