Centre for Ethics, Law and Mental Health - CELAM

CELAM was established in January 2012 through the formalisation of an existing research collaboration between the Forensic Psychiatry Research Group at the Sahlgrenska Academy, the Forensic Psychiatry Research Group at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Malmö, Lund University, and a group of philosophy researchers at the Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science within the Faculty of Arts at University of Gothenburg.
The aim - then as now - was to constitute a national, interdisciplinary research centre dedicated to initiating and supporting research on mental ill-health and crime, aggressive antisocial behaviour, forensic psychiatric care, and broader issues of moral and criminal responsibility.
Today, CELAM is a collaborative initiative involving the University of Gothenburg, Lund University, the Swedish National Board of Forensic Medicine, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, the Regional Forensic Psychiatric Clinic Växjö (Region Kronoberg), the Forensic Psychiatry Services Region Skåne, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, and the National Board of Institutional Care.
