About Gabriela Argüello

In June 2018, I completed my doctoral education at the Department of Law within the School of Business, Economics and Law of the University of Gothenburg. My thesis focused both in international and European law concerning the management of ship wastes from a life-cycle approach. My thesis addressed several challenges in relation to environmental regulation such as the division between national and international environments and current fragmented sectoral pollution approaches. The research highlighted the integrative role of international environmental principles.
My research interests relate to addressing global environmental challenges about the marine environment since it involves large and multi-scale dimensions of actors, including States, international organizations, industries, and civil society organizations.
