About Adam Turner

Adam Turner is from London, England. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Oxford Brookes University and a Master’s degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Nottingham.

His undergraduate thesis was focused on proteins responsible for the remodeling of the endoplasmic reticulum. In 2017, he received his Master’s degree with a thesis on Staphylococcus aureus biofilms, identifying their response to sub-inhibitory concentrations of antibiotics.

Adam is currently a doctoral student in the Department of Biomaterials as part of the Marie-Curie BIOREMIA European Training Network. Adam joined the BIOREMIA Network in August 2020. During his PhD project at the University of Gothenburg, his focus will be on evaluating how novel biomaterials for hard-tissue implants inhibit the formation of biofilms of clinically relevant bacterial species. He will also aim to characterise their antimicrobial modes of action and study the initial biomaterial interactions with host cells and bacterial cells
