About Peter Dellgran

Presentation Peter Dellgran is professor at the Department of Social Work. He is, among other things, the coordinator of the research program Social Work in Transition: organization, professionalism and knowledge. He has been a visiting professor at Malmö University and the scientific director of CPS (Centre for professional studies).

Peter Dellgran is part of the editorial boards of Social Science magazine and the European Journal of Social Work.

Area of research Peter Dellgran has been involved in a research project on knowledge questions, the relationship between education, training and research as well as privatization and professionalization of social work in various projects. He also has conducted research on social policy and the supply and poverty issues such as social assistance/income support, financial advice, debt and consumer issues.

In recent years his research, with funding from research councils, has been focused on the interaction between the welfare state's formal support systems (medical insurance, unemployment insurance, retirement plans, etc.) and informal economic and other social assistance.

Current projects Peter Dellgran is currently leading a major research project with support from the Swedish Research Council. The study examines what happens to social relationships and opportunities in support of family and circle of friends in the long-term illness such as informal financial assistance in connection with long term sickness.
