About Noora Neittaanmäki

Noora Neittaanmäki is a dual-certified specialist in Dermatology and Pathology with particular expertise in dermatopathology and translational skin cancer research. She earned her PhD at the University of Helsinki in 2015 and subsequently moved to Gothenburg, where she has pursued clinical and translational research in dermatology and pathology. In 2021, she was appointed Associate Professor (Docent) at both the University of Gothenburg and the University of Helsinki. Currently,Noora Neittaanmäki is Senior Lecturer in Pathology at the Institute of Biomedicine, University of Gothenburg, and Senior Consultant Dermatopathologist at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Since 2026, she also holds a tenure-track Professorship in Dermatology at the University of Eastern Finland.

She leads a multidisciplinary research group at the University of Gothenburg focusing on computational pathology, artificial intelligence and advanced imaging for precision medicine in melanoma and other skin cancers. The group develops computational biomarkers to improve cancer diagnostics and predict tumour progression, metastasis and treatment response.
