About Markus Forsberg

I am the co-director of Språkbanken, the director of Språkbanken Text at the Department of Swedish, Multilingualism, Language Technology, and an associate professor of language technology (a research field that today, since the emergence of large language models, is frequently referred to as AI).

My focus areas are language technological/digital research infrastructures, language technology for the Swedish language through the ages, and lexical resources and methodologies. In other words, I’m broad in my interests and in general application-oriented, no matter if I work with research infrastructure — which is my primary duty today — or research.

Since the research group of lexicography was incorporated into Språkbanken Text 2021, I have an active role in the project Svenska Akademiens samtidsordböcker, where we compile the two contemporary Swedish dictionaries Svenska Akademiens ordlista (SAOL) and Svensk ordbok utgiven av Svenska Akademien (SO).

I’m also a member of the board of Litteraturbanken and GPS400, and a member of University of Gothenburg’s drafting body for digitalization of research.
