The decision-making process in forensic psychiatric evaluations: theory and practice

Both governmental inquiries and previous research has pointed out the need to assure the quality of expert testimonies in the field of forensic psychiatry. This project aims to explore and describe the decision making-process in Swedish forensic psychiatric evaluations. This knowledge about regular and particularly difficult cases will then be used to formulate and try specific hypotheses about what could affect the process and possibly the outcome. Finally, the the project aims to design and try out an aid for the decision making-process, with the final goal of helping to increase the quality of forensic psychiatric evaluations in practice.
