Short description

In SPARG we study various aspects of spondyloarthritis, primarily axial spondyloarthritis and psoriatic arthritis. Disease course and phenotype vary; some patients develop a severe disease with extensive loss of physical function while others a milder sickness. The variation is also large in terms of development of extra-articular manifestations such as heart manifestations, anterior uveitis as well as inflammatory bowel disease and other comorbidities such as osteoporosis and fractures. Our research aims to identify factors that contribute to or protect against more serious disease, as well as to investigate the effect of different drugs on the diseases, in order to eventually be able to improve care and treatment of patients. We conduct register studies, patient-centered observation and intervention studies with translational elements.
